Recap: 1 parent lost. 2 episodes written for the abs&boobs wakeboarding show. 3 months spent in the Peg. 4 days off between returning in mid-September and 2006. These days include Christmas and Boxing Day. Phew.

A new year. A new show, this time a poignant half-hour comedy. After mutiny came great relief: no longer is writing an exercise in blandification. "Awesome" no longer counts as standard dialogue. Hell, I have no regrets about the last show -- everything culmintates in knowledge and experience. But the lessons learned are as follows:

* never again will I, without question, write for a show that doesn't have a story department-based showrunner.
* when at all possible, I will endeavor to get on shows that have a showrunner who is not solely a producer.
* please, please, g-d please remind me to make sure the head writer is the showrunner.
* when in a new city, I will get out and meet the people. Simple lesson, well-learned.

And now, back to it. Alas, today isn't a day off.
